Lorenzo Menakaya, Lala Akindoju and Funny Bone to host Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) 2019

In its 15th year, the organizers of Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) continue to push the African narrative through films to the rest of the world by leveraging international film festivals to boast the reach of select African movies on its platform. It also plans on various film workshops in the coming months.

In a media parley on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, The founder of AMAA, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe disclosed that Actor and radio presenter Lorenzo Menakaya, Actress Kemi Lala Akindoju, and comedian Funny Bone will be co-hosting the show which is scheduled to hold on October 27, 2019 at the Landmark Centre, Lagos, Nigeria. .

Lorenzo Menakaya is also a filmmaker, his debut feature film as a director premiered in 2019 at the African World Film Festival, Michigan, USA and the Nigerian premiere at Lights Camera Africa Film Festival 2019. As a Radio presenter, he won Nigerian Broadcaster Merit Awards in 2016 and received two nominations from The Future Awards Africa for On-air Personality of the Year.

Kemi Lala Akindoju received Best Young/Promising Actor at the 11th Africa Movie Academy Awards for her role in Dazzling Mirage. She also won The Future Awards Africain 2010 for Actor of the year, battling the biggest Nigeria’s screen actors while still a stage actor at the time.

Speaking on the award ceremony, the entertainment executive said the year has been competitive as the continent keeps evolving in filmmaking.
